Yoichi

Located 50 kilometers west of the city of Sapporo on the Hokkaido island, the Yoichi distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru founder of Nikka. Regional climate similar to that of Scotland, and the presence of peat and a source of pure water are the ideal conditions sought by Taketsuru to build his own first distillery. The sea air and the use of peat for malting barley are at the origin of a so assured and powerfull character more or less peaty of the Yoichi’s whiskies …
