Suntory Yamazaki Limited Edition 2021

In addition to Hibiki Blossom Harmony 2021, a sakura cask-matured version of the House's emblematic blend, Suntory also announced the launch of a Yamazaki Limited Edition 2021 single malt !

After a four-year hiatus, the last of which was in 2017, Suntory unveiled a new 2021 Limited Edition of its Yamazaki single malt. Despite this period of health uncertainty, the group finally sees the end of the tunnel thanks to the drastic rationalization of its stocks and the increase in production capacity of its 2 malt distilleries set up in recent years to cope with the explosion in demand for Japanese whisky.

It would therefore appear that Suntory is ready to gradually relax the restrictions on the quantities allocated to the various markets, perhaps leading to greater accessibility to its whiskies in the relatively near future, as indicated in an article in the Yomiuri Shinbum newspaper.

So what does this new limited edition contain ? Suntory comes back with a big strike by offering this blend of single malts aged 12 years and older to mark the difference with previous editions composed mostly of whiskies less than 5 years old. In addition to their maturity, the blended single malts have all been aged in new Japanese oak barrels Mizunara (Quercus Mongolica) specially made for Suntory.

As you might have guessed, Yamazaki limited edition 2021 highlights the famous Japanese oak right up to the case which for the occasion is adorned with a wooden print in which the kanji of the distillery are pyrographed. The label made of washi Echizen paper emphasizes the Japanese tradition.

Scheduled for May 2021 on the domestic market, this limited edition of the single malt from Japan's oldest whisky distillery may also be available in ultra limited quantities on foreign markets.
